Old golfers never die – they just misplace their putters:
About 10 years ago, I was playing golf in Gulf Port, Mississippi. My group was following a foursome of 4 elderly gentlemen, and they were not especially breaking any speed records. They were all in their 80s except for Ben who was well into his 90s. We caught up to them on one hole and had to wait while they cleared the green. Ben was the last to putt out, and when he finished, he slowly trudged across the green to the cart where he sat down. One of the other players, who had watched him and waited until he was seated, yelled from the green, “Ben! Ben, you’ve done it again!” At which time, Ben got out of the cart, took the flag stick from his bag, and drug it back to the green, where he took his putter out of the hole, and replaced it with the flag.
The rest of my group was getting impatient, but I figured Ben didn’t have that many games left in him, so have fun old fella.
