Small doses:  Road trip # 6

On another hike, this time in the Tetons of Wyoming, Avon and I fell in with a bus tour group. They were a fun bunch and I was doing my best impression of being the entertainer of the year. We laughed for 700 feet up hill and 700 feet down hill. When we parted, Avon commented that it would be fun to travel with a bunch like that. I told her that it would be great for about the first 100 miles, at which point they would be trying to find a way to get me off that bus.

The obvious doesn’t need stating:
Clinging to an eyebrow of a road above the timberline (roughly 11,000 feet) is serious business and no time for fools. We were doing just that; moving around a mountain to the right. There was nothing to the left but a world of emptiness and a lot of it. As we practically scraped the rock wall going around a corner, we saw a highway sign telling us, “NO LEFT TURN.”
