Another name thing:   Road trip #10
I always thought they were called hairpin curves because they were shaped like a hairpin or bobby pin. I found out that the similarity goes even farther than that. Hairpin curves work the same way as their namesakes. After winding through some of those mountain roads with nothing on the left but a rock wall, and nothing to the right but a couple of thousand feet of drop off Avon’s hair would stay curly for days.

What’s in a nomenclature?
Old Faithful is a geyser that does its thing on a regular basis for a long time. A geezer is just a regular old guy – with emphasis on “old”. So, does that make Old Faithful a geezer geyser? You saw that one coming didn’t you.

Life is much too important to be taken seriously.”
