Idaho: Road trip # 9
We (I) loved
Idaho. It has mountains, rivers, deserts, and very few people. It is a little
short on entertainment though. A typical Saturday night date in Salmon, ID
would be load your girl into your 4 WD pick up and drive downtown to watch the
stop sign. There could be as many as 8 couples waiting to see that sign do
something. There must be some romantic implications there that I didn’t
understand.
Idaho also has
Sun Valley, which is the only blemish on an otherwise flawless face. Sun
Valley, a noted ski area, is a magnet to the well-healed and pretty people.
There were pretty men, pretty women, pretty children, cars, cats, and dogs.
Each person there was prettier than the one before him or her, with the
exception of yours truly – of course. Those people were so impressed with
themselves that they spent most of their time and efforts sucking up to
themselves. They would pay outrageous prices to have pretty guides take them on
river floats in streams that were mere shadows of the streams a few miles
farther away. We didn’t even wait around for the complimentary breakfast – come
sun up we were gone.
“Life is much too important
to be taken seriously.”
